The LionsXII suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kelantan in tonight's Malaysian Super League match at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Singapore striker, Khairul Amri found room and volleyed beautifully past the keeper in the 26th minute to lead the match 1-0.
In the 50th minute, Ahmad Fakri of Kelantan took advantage of a defensive lapse, went pass the defensive line to gleefully tuck the ball in to equalise.
Kelantan were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute, due to Ahmad Shakir Ali getting his marching orders for a dangerous foul on Afiq Yunos.
But it was 10-man Kelantan which took maximum points with Doe getting the winning goal in the dying minutes of the game after another defensive lapse by the Lions.
In the end, Singapore LionsXII lost the match to Kelantan in today's Malaysian Super League by the scoreline 1-2.
I am surprised that our defense was so static and flat tonight. Our home team lead the match so early in the match but failed to capitalize on the match. There was a lot of uncertainty in the passes and hence a lot of missed passes. Again, CONFIDENCE is lacking but this time round,I felt HEART is missing a bit too.
We need to get some gurus to boost and strengthen the mindset of the team and make them feel like champions thus act like champions. Not just play attacking football but failed to capitalize on the momentum and opportunities and then fall short in defense again and again.
I have faith that we have the talent and the abilities to be a CHAMPION team and we will be knocking on all the podium doors.
